It was lovingly founded by Diana Jaramillo, AIA.
S. New Berlin Free Library
Community Project in South New Berlin, NY
The Board at the South New Berlin Free Library asked Kin Studio to create a new multi-purpose room to serve their patrons. They wanted a welcoming space for community events that would work alongside the quiet library space.
The addition also included two new bathrooms, a gallery wall, a kitchenette and a new stair.
As the library is set in a historical building from the late 1800s, we had to work to get approval from the New York State Historic Preservation Office. We were succesful and the library will start construction in 2021.
An important aspect of the space were the doors connecting the two spaces: the existing library and the new multi-purpose room. That way, the library could hold events and people could use the library at the same time.
